The Toronto Blue Jays joined the OOSL in the 1997 round of expansion. Their two year OOSL career record stands at 130-178 for a .422 Winning Percentage -- tying their expansion mates on the Houston Colt .45 franchise. All four expansion teams of 1997 were disbanded at the end of 1998 to make way for the OOSL American Association. An American Association franchise now carries the name of the Toronto Blue Jays into the OOSL future, but there is no other direct connection to the rosters of the two franchises.

The Jays best season was their last, as Andy Messersmith (15 wins) and Bert Blyleven (17) took the ball 80 times between them while leading them to 70 wins. Wally Berger became one of the league's most feared sluggers during his tenure in Toronto. The outfielder belted 69 homers in that two year span, including an incredible 32 in just 351 at bats in 1998. Wally also led the League in 1998 in hitting Home Runs vs left-handers (19), and won the 1998 Home Run Derby. Wallopin' Wally was also 3rd in the AL in RBI in 1997 (127). On the flip side of the coin, in 1998 Kevin Brown led the League in least HR allowed per 9 IP (0.35) -- tying Lefty Gomez' mark (1994; Cleveland & Boston) for second best ever in the OOSL American League to this point.
